​To install Portainer on GL-998x (GL-9981, GL-9982) follow instruction below, find a few examples in attached knowledge document.

1) Note! Make sure the GL-998x device have internet access. 

2) Then copy below lines and paste it into the SSH (Linux) console:

G-series GL-998x-C-x - Backup/Restore of licenses

​The GL-998x-Cx* comes preloaded with a set of licenses based on article number. If the OS image is reinstalled these licenses will be overwritten and therefore it is of importance to create a backup.

The license(s) are bound to the serialnumber of the device and cannot be used in any other GL-998x-Cx.

GL-998x - DHCP and fallback to default IP address

​It is possible to configure the GL-998x to use DHCP client as defaul and if an IP address is not obtained a statis IP address will be assigned instead.

To configure this use a ssh terminal session and edit dhcpcd.conf.

sudo nano /etc/dhcpcd.conf

This setting will use the default IP setting if DHCP fails.

G-Series Programmable IO - Task priority setting

​The PIO models in GN-, GL-, ML-,and M-series does not support the task priority setting in CODESYS/BCS Tools.

Customers using older versions of the device description files will have the possibility to change the priority for the task but there is no actual function for it when running the application.

At the time of writing, 2023-06-16, the current published device description files for GN-, GL-, ML- and M-series will only have one priority available.

The only exception is the GL-998x (Raspberry Pi) which supports 0..31

FnIO M-, G- and S-series Serial number and Production date

​The serieal number of S-series is 11 digits, G- and M-series is based on 12 digits.
Note, for G- and M-series the last four digits xxxx.

Shock resistance of G- and M-series (IEC 60068-2-27)

According to IEC 60068-2-27 (shock operating) standard the general shock resistance is 15G for all G- and M-series modules.

To reset those to Factory default which erase projects and defaults IP settings, push and hold the push button located under the "flipp cover", for more than 20 sec. when all LED's start flashing, you can release, and then reboot. Now it is Factory fefault.

Conversion guide for alternative products between S-series remote IO to G- or M-series

​Use this PDF to chose a corresponding product. In some cases there are several alternatives that may need deeper investigating but in general:
- S- and G- (or M-) series modules cannot be mixed since they are mechanically different, however it is perfectly possible to have connect a S-series and G-series network adapter to the same network.
- The G-series is great all-purpose family that will work in most cases although not marine applications.
- The M-series is adapted for demanding applications and environments. It offers hot-swap and redundancy and is has a marine certifications.
